The resignation comes 13 years after being appointed as a permanent member of the Council.
Meanwhile the Chairman of the Council, Chief Justice Chan Sek Keong, expressed his thanks to Prof Jayakumar for his invaluable contributions and strong support of the Council’s work despite his heavy commitments.
Prof Jayakumar, who was then the Minister for Law, was appointed on 1 July 1998.
