C&G named first preferred bidder to Guiyang WTE project
The Mainboard-listed energy operator is finalizing an RMB980 million contract to generate electricity for the Guizhou province capital.
C&G Environmental Protection Holdings Limited said the Guiyang waste-to-energy (WTE) project will be the firm's biggest to date in terms of investment scale.
"Guiyang WTE project is designed to have a daily waste handling capacity of 2,000 tonnes – the largest capacity of C&G’s projects to date – and would be able to generate up to 48MW of electricity annually. Total investment of the project is estimated to be RMB 980 million, making it C&G’s largest investment in WTE projects to date. Upon completion and commencement of operations, the project would serve a surrounding area of 8,034 km2 and a population of 4.3 million," said C&G.
C&G said Guiyan serves as the regional economic and commercial hub of Guizhou, and is a large centre for retail and wholesale commercial activities for major domestic and international retailers such as Wal-Mart, Carrefour, Beijing Hualian and Parkson.
“Being selected as the first preferred bidder in Guiyang marks another milestone for us in our strategic expansion into major PRC cities, after Dalian. As we continue to consolidate and realign our assets, we are selective in pursuing new projects to ensure that they meet our investment return criteria," said Mr Lin Yan, Executive Chairman and Group CEO.
Back in March, C&G was also selected as the first preferred bidder for a WTE project in Dalian, the second largest city in Liaoning province, which will add 1,000 tonnes of daily waste handling capacity if successfully executed.
