
Renewable Energy Asia wins $28mln European contract
Deal set to manufacture 600 sets of steel casing for power generating system of turbine.
Renewable Energy Asia Group (REA), formerly known as Superior Fastening Technology, has bagged a US$20 million ($27.6 million) master contract to manufacture wind turbine components for a European turbine maker, one of the top 10 in the world, according to a REA report.
Under the terms of the contract, REA Group will manufacture, supply and deliver up to 600 sets of steel casing for the power generating system of the turbine, based on monthly purchase orders to be received under the master contract. The components will be delivered in phases to the turbine maker's factories in Europe, the USA and China. The contract is expected to be fulfilled by the end of the year.
REA Group's announcement of this contract comes just one week after the Company announced that it had secured a concession to develop a Green Energy Park in Zhenglanqi, Inner Mongolia, and three weeks after it was awarded a $7.4 million deal to manufacture wind turbine towers for a wind farm located in Huaishuo, Inner Mongolia.
REA Group's manufacturing capabilities cover a wide range of wind turbine components and sub-systems including wind turbine towers, nacelle casing and other structural components. The Group's flagship production plant in Haimen City, Jiangsu, PRC has a total land area of over 170,000 m² and a total built-in area of over 52,000 m². Equipped with state-of-the-art computer numerical control machines, heavy cranes and world-class logistics and enterprise resource management systems, it is able to produce up to 100,000 tons of wind farm structural components or 1,200 wind turbine towers a year.
