Sembcorp seals Jiangsu wastewater treatment deal
$26.1m contract set to finish in 2015.
Sembcorp Industries has signed a joint venture agreement to acquire and upgrade an existing wastewater treatment plant in Lianyungang Lingang Chemical Industrial Park in Jiangsu Province, China, the company announced in a statement on Tuesday.
The agreement will give Sembcorp’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Sembcorp (China) Holding Co, an 80% stake in the joint venture. Shenghai Wastewater Treatment Plant Co, a wholly owned company of the Lianyungang Lingang Industrial Area Administration Committee, will hold the remaining stake.
The existing facility in the chemical industrial park is only able to treat low concentration wastewater. It will be upgraded to one that is capable of treating high concentration industrial wastewater directly from source.
Sembcorp’s industrial water and wastewater treatment business currently serves 11 industrial sites in China.
