Singapore-based Equis to build $1.6b solar project in Australia
The project will have an output of 1.8 million MWh/year and capacity for 255,000 homes.
Singapore-based renewable energy firm Equis will develop the $1.6b (A$1.5b) 1,000 MW Wandoan South Solar Project (WSSP) in Queensland, Australia.
According to a press release, the company has recently received approval from the Western Downs Regional Council to build WSPP.
The construction is set to go on between 2018 and 2019 and deliver power in the latter year.
WSSP will bring Equis’ generation capacity in Australia to 1,276 MW, involving an aggregate investment cost of $2.1b (A$1.9b) billion.
The WSSP project will incorporate up to 3 million solar PV panels and have a generation output of approximately 1,800,000 megawatt hours per year (MWh/year). This can provide the annual needs of 255,000 homes and save over 1. 7 million tonnes of CO2 annually compared to same generation from coal-fired power, Equis said.
