Bain & Company, SBF launch decarbonisation programme for SMEs
The programme helped 80% of participating SMEs establish their emissions baseline.
Bain & Company and the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) have launched a programme to help small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) accelerate decarbonisation.
The SME Sectoral Net Zero Transition Programme offers SMEs sector-specific workshops, access to ecosystem partners, advisory support, as well as an AI-powered DecarboniSME tool.
The programme, which was piloted from July to August, involved 21 food manufacturers that produced a range of products from beverages to noodles. It was also supported by Enterprise Singapore and the Singapore Food Manufacturers’ Association (SFMA).
The programme helped 80% of participating SMEs establish their emissions baseline for the first time and encouraged SMEs to target a 50% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030.
In addition, the identified decarbonisation levers could potentially reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50% to 70%, increase EBITDA margins by 4% to 5%, and lower energy costs per unit by 40% to 50%.
