
Chart of the Day: Singapore invested US$300m in energy M&A for Q2
It is one of the top investing countries in the Asia Pacific.
This chart from EY shows that for the second quarter of 2018, Singapore-based firms' investment in energy mergers and acquisitions (M&A) rose by 1% to US$300m compared to last year.
This makes Singapore one of the top outbound investors for energy deals in the region.
China led the outbound investments in the region thanks to the takeover bid by China Three Gorges of Portugal’s EDP worth US$27.4b. Japan is also a top investing country as investment value grew by 2% to US$740m.
The total outbound investment value of countries in the Asia Pacific region amounted to US$32.3b.
