Chart of the day: Singapore ranks 2nd in energy FDIs in ASEAN
The country has been part of the top three since 2008.
This chart from Foresight Economics shows the most attractive destinations for energy sector-focused greenfield foreign direct investment (FDI), with Singapore ranking second in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Plus Three.
Singapore has been one of the top countries that attract green energy FDIs since 2008, beaten only by Hong Kong by a very tight margin.
Foresight Economics observed that between 2018 and 2019, Singapore has been able to maintain its momentum despite being second. Hong Kong meanwhile showed a decrease in its momentum.

“As 2020 and 2021 data become available over the next few months, we anticipate that the gap between Hong Kong and Singapore will continue to narrow,” the report said.
