CLINT increases renewable energy usage by over 70% with a new solar plant in India

The 21-megawatt solar plant will generate over 30 million kWh of electricity annually.

CapitaLand India Trust (CLINT) has set up its first captive solar power plant in Tamil Nadu, India, raising the trust’s renewable energy usage by over 70%.

In a bourse filing, CLINT said the 21-megawatt (MW) solar plant can generate 30 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) annually and meet the power supply needs of 2 million sq ft equivalent of office space.

Apart from increasing CLINT’s green energy usage by over 70%, the plan will also reduce the trust’s carbon emissions by more than 17,000 tonnes, and reduce its need to purchase power.

CLINT aims to achieve net zero carbon emission for scopes 1 and 2 by 2050.
