
Daily Briefing: Temasek's $50m solar bet; Malls shut in China
And travel players implement precautionary measures against Coronavirus spread.

Singapore state-owned investment firm Temasek Holdings and Asia-focused impact investing private equity (PE) fund ABC World Asia, have pumped in $50m in solar energy system developer and operator Sunseap Group, according to an announcement.
Sunseap has closed at least five rounds of equity funding, and its earlier investors include Thai coal and gas producer Banpu Group, and Shell Technology Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of oil major Royal Dutch Shell.
ABC World was set up in 2018 by Temasek Trust, the philanthropic arm of Temasek Holdings.

Several Singapore-listed companies have temporarily closed or shortened their business hours in China amidst the spread of the Coronavirus.
Dasin Retail Trust has further shortened operating hours of its five malls in China and temporarily shut down crowded areas in these malls such as the cinema and karaoke sections.
Sasseur Real Estate Investment Trust has also announced the temporary closure of its four outlet malls in China, located in Chongqing, Bishan, Hefei and Kunming.
CapitaLand on Wednesday said it has closed six of its malls in China, four in Wuhan, and two in Xi’an.

Hotels in Singapore are stepping up internal measures for both guests and staff to stem the spread of Coronavirus in the country.
Accor hotel has instructed all of its properties to implement additional hygiene procedures, including cleaning and disinfection. Accord staff was also said to be trained on identifying and managing any suspected cases.
Similarly, resort destination Sentosa is also adopting enhanced precautionary measures, said a spokesperson of the island’s operator, Sentosa Development Corporation. Such measures included increasing the frequency of clean-up at common areas and placing advisories for guests around the island.
