Keppel Data Centres, Woodside to explore supplying liquid hydrogen to Singapore

Keppel could buy around 1,000 tonnes of liquid hydrogen a day.

Keppel Data Centres signed a non-binding Heads of Agreement with Woodside Energy to look into the potential of supplying liquid hydrogen to Singapore from Woodside’s planned production facilities in Perth, Australia.

In a statement, Keppel said the agreement lays out the pathway for the parties to develop commercial principles for hydrogen supply chain deals.

It also stated Keppel Data Centre could buy around 1,000 tonnes of liquid hydrogen per day by 2030 when the production technologies and shipping systems mature.

The hydrogen will be used for Keppel’s data centre facilities including its planned data centre park development in Singapore, Datapark+, which will reduce their emissions.

The signing of the agreement came after the feasibility studies that started in late-2021 concluded.
