Sembcorp inks deal to export green ammonia from India to Japan
Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha will facilitate the export.
Sembcorp Green Hydrogen, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries, has inked an agreement to export green ammonia from India to Japan.
Part of the agreement were Kyushu Electric Power and Sojitz Corporation, and Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) as the shipping partner for the export.
Under the Heads of terms (HoT) signed by the parties, Semborp, as project lead, will produce competitively priced green ammonia in India. NYK, for its part, will oversee the maritime transportation of the green ammonia from India to Japan.
Sembcorp has a renewables portfolio of 4.7GW in India.
Meanwhile, the company announced that front-end engineering and design work has begun for the green ammonia plant in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu.
