Sembcorp Marine enters into contract with Bechtel
The agreement targets module assembly of the second LNG train.
Sembcorp Marine announced, through its subsidiary, Sembcorp Marine Offshore Platforms Pte. Ltd., that the group has entered into a contract with Bechtel Overseas Corporation.
The agreement focuses on module assembly of the second LNG train to be assembled at the Pluto LNG project. Both entities are set to form a management team to oversee the module assembly programme for Pluto Train 2, which is scheduled to be accomplished by 2024.
Pluto LNG is a single onshore LNG processing train situated on the Burrup Peninsula near Karratha, and currently processes gas from the Pluto and Xena offshore fields. Since its start-up in 2012, Woodside has operated the facility safely, with the construction of Pluto Train 2 aimed at expanding the current capacity by around five million tonnes per annum.
“Sembcorp Marine is pleased to collaborate once again with Bechtel on an Australian LNG project. The Group looks forward to executing the project safely and efficiently and we thank Bechtel for their continued trust in our capabilities,” said Samuel Wong, Head of Offshore Platforms, Sembcorp Marine.
Previous collaborations between the two include the Australia Pacific LNG and Wheatstone LNG projects.
