Singapore, Hong Kong sign MOU for bilateral energy cooperation

They will cooperate and share regulator practices on key areas of energy development.

The Energy Market Authority (EMA) of Singapore and the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China have agreed to enhance cooperation towards greater energy security and resilience, according to a joint release.

The MOU sees the two energy authorities cooperate and share regulatory practices on: electricity and gas systems and markets; renewable energy, energy efficiency and conservation, district cooling, and low carbon technologies such as hydrogen, and carbon capture, utilisation and storage; and coperation at multilateral forums, such as the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).

Activities between the two agencies will reportedly include knowledge and experience sharing, and technical cooperation involving training and exchange programmes between EMA and EMSD, the press statement said.
