See how Bordier & Cie's new office kills the ‘closed door’ view in private banking

Spanning 12,300 sq ft, the office at CapitaGreen promotes transparency.

While most people view private banking as “closed door” transactional relations, the essence of Bordier & Cie was established upon long-term relationship banking where transparency and trust are critical fundamentals. Families have entrusted their assets to Bordier & Cie since 1844.

In Asia, managing partner and fifth generation Evrard Bordier has used an incredible foresight and mettle to take the family business into a new paradigm of open engagements. Evrard also serves as the CEO of Bordier & Cie (Singapore). The transformation started with a reinvented global brand followed by a new private banking office in Singapore at CapitaGreen, a Green Mark platinum-certified building.

In 2011, ID21 Singapore designed and built an award-winning office for Bordier & Cie. Four years later, a new space was completed at CapitaGreen. It was the product of an evolved relationship and chemistry with the client. “Still by ID21, the new office reflects the changes in the private banking environment where transparency has become the norm in the world,” Evrard enthused.

Even though history and legacy are distinctive of their image and success, Evrard is never one to rest on the laurels of tradition. The new office is hyper modern this time with brazen, clear glass client meeting rooms in the front office; an exquisite juxtaposition of contemporary and Asian art pieces throughout; and a motion-sensor height and light adjustable table in Evrard’s room that stands as testament to his penchant for agility and innovation.

The new office, spanning 12,300 square feet on Level 14, also expresses the significance of having a visionary leader, two feng shui masters and an award-winning interior design firm collaborating to translate a reinvigorated brand into an interior language that seamlessly combines design, art, technology and “respect of the Asian culture”. A harmony of yin and yang exists throughout. Calming sand-hued tones and ripple silhouettes in the client areas appeal to a mixed Asian and European clientele palette, while a generous use of illuminating white was reserved for the back office to invigorate their employees.

Across a fluid, dichotomous floorplate of front and back office areas are interspersions of luscious sky gardens. This is a private banking environment that espouses a sense of modern luxury that is sophisticated, yet not ostentatious. With this office, Bordier & Cie and ID21 have once again turned the wheels of innovative design to pave way for a new “transparent” future in private banking.
