Bordier & Cie (Singapore) recognised for banking expertise at SBR International Business Awards 2017
Their winning initiative involved banking with personality.
Bordier & Cie (Singapore) sought to reclaim what it truly means to be a private banker. As a trusted advisor, they aspire to understand their clients’ deepest aspirations and goals.
The firm then developed a personality topology that maps out the individual’s intrinsic goals and needs in life. The bank then acts as a catalyst for the attainment of such life goals by extending those personal philosophies into the investment strategy for each client.
This initiative, a project they call "Banking to Live" won the Banking category at the Singapore Business Review International Business Awards 2017. Cedric Tinguely, chief trader, Bordier & Cie (Singapore), accepted the award on the bank's behalf.
In developing the proprietary algorithm for client mapping, Bordier & Cie (Singapore) noted that their clients bank to live and not live to bank. The bank has undertaken a systematic programme of understanding clients and mapping them to various investments attributes.
Through stringent research, they have developed a proprietary questionnaire that provides a topographical description of clients' personalities.
There are two sets of questionnaires completed by the client. The first one is used to determine the client’s life’s main traits from which the system derives the associated investment strategy (based on primary archetypes). The second determines the client’s risk profile. Combined, it will allow a comprehensive mapping of the client (different risk-based investment styles).
The SBR International Business Awards was held on June 8, 2017 at the Conrad Centennial Singapore.
This year's nominations were judged by a panel consisting of Ng Jiak See, executive director and head of corporate finance advisory at Deloitte Singapore & Southeast Asia; Choo Eng Chuan, ASEAN markets leader and partner, international and corporate tax services at Ernst & Young Solutions LLP; Toh Kim Teck, assurance partner at Foo Kon Tan LLP; and Henry Tan, managing director at NEXIA TS.
