
DBS customers donated over $1mn to help victims of Japan quake disaster
These donations to the "Red Cross Japan Disaster" fund were made via DBS' ATM network and AXS Stations.
According to DBS, customers are also able to donate via Internet banking channels since they were made available for public donations. DBS and POSB customers are still able to contribute to the fund via Internet banking and over 1,100 DBS/POSB ATMs and 730 AXS stations located islandwide. These channels will remain open to receive donations to the “Red Cross Japan Disaster” fund till 13 April 2011.
Mr. Sim S. Lim, Country Manager of DBS Singapore said, “We are saddened to hear of the devastation and tragic loss of life caused by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Since we opened up our various distribution channels, our customers have responded with an outpouring of generosity and goodwill. I would like to thank our customers for their contributions towards supporting relief efforts in Japan. At DBS, we feel privileged to have been able to play a part in making it convenient for customers to donate to this worthy cause.”
