Prudential Singapore launches dengue insurance plan
Customers may receive coverage of S$20,000 in case of infection.
Prudential Singapore has launched PRUSafe Dengue, an insurance plan for those infected with the mosquito-borne dengue virus.
PRUSafe Dengue customers only need to pay S$5 (US$3.8) to receive coverage of S$20,000 (US$15,155) against death due to dengue fever, the insurer said in a press release.
There were more than 34,000 Dengue Fever cases reported and 29 dengue-related deaths in 2020, according to data from National Environment Agency. The agency has urged continued vigilance to avoid another dengue outbreak in 2021.
For a premium of S$5, PRUSafe Dengue provides the three benefits for a period of three months: death benefit, with a sum assured of S$20,000 (US$15,555) if a life assured dies within 14 days from a dengue fever diagnosis; a hospital cash benefit of S$200 (around US$160) per day for a maximum of five days if hospitalized due to dengue; and a get-well benefit that involves a one-time lump sum payout of S$500 (US$380) if the life assured is diagnosed with dengue fever.
PRUSafe Dengue is available to Singapore residents aged between 18 and 69 and can be renewed or repurchased every three months.
Prudential is also making PRUSafe Dengue available for purchase on its Pulse by Prudential digital health and wellness app. This makes it the first insurance plan offered by Prudential on its Pulse app.
