WhatsApp, Paypal inject funds into Gojek

The sum of the investments were not disclosed.

Indonesian ride-hailing giant Gojek has received investments from WhatsApp and Paypal as part of its latest fundraising round, reports Reuters.

WhatsApp and Paypal did not disclose the sum of their investments nor the stakes they would receive.

In a blog post, WhatsApp COO Matt Idema said that it would work with Gojek “to support the growth of millions of small businesses.” For their part, Paypal said its payments services will be integrated into Gojek.

In April, it was reported that Facebook and Gojek were in talks regarding an investment and the former had been working with three e-wallet firms in Indonesia, including Gojek’s GoPay, to launch mobile payment services in the country.
