Barclays to cut 100 jobs in Singapore

Functions will be relocated in India.

British bank Barclays is cutting more jobs from its information technology operations in Singapore to save on costs. The IT function will be relocated in India.

"We have now identified a number of additional roles that carry out global activity in Singapore which can be relocated. Regrettably, this will mean that roles will fall away in Singapore, and so we are working closely with the colleagues impacted to ensure they are supported throughout the process,” the bank said in a statement.

The statement did not disclose the number but a report from Bloomberg said that the London-based bank is intending to cut approximately 100 jobs in Singapore.

Barclays currently has approximately 3,000 staff in Singapore.
