Chart of the Day: Allocation to equity investments dips to 42% in 2016

Alternative and cash assets grew for the year.

This chart from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) shows investors' allocation towards equity investments dipped from 43% in 2015 to 42% in 2016.

Meanwhile, the share of bond assets remained the same at 23%, as investors "sought stable returns."

Allocation towards alternative and cash assets grew to 21% and 5%, respectively.

MAS said the increase in allocation to alternative assets is "reflecting investors’ growing appetite for illiquidity premium in a persistent low yield environment."

Authorised Collective Investment Schemes' (CIS) share in the asset pool dipped to 9%.
