
HSBC eclipses DBS as top raiser of debt in South East Asia
DBS has fallen all the way back to 8th place with just 23 deals compared to HSBC’s 48.
SE Asia Corporate IG bond volume totals $20.3bn so far this year – the highest YTD level on record, up 35% compared to the $15.0bn raised in the same period last year, according to Dealogic's SE Asia Investment Banking report. Despite an increase in corporate IG bond issuance, activity has dropped to 146 transactions in 2011 YTD from 176 deals in 2010 YTD.
FIG issuance has also reached the third highest YTD level on record with $13.2bn, down 5% from the record YTD level achieved in 2008 ($13.8bn). While Sovereign volume has surged almost three times year-on-year with $15.4bn in 2011 YTD from $5.7bn in 2010 YTD.
SE Asia M&A fees have reached $269m in 2011 YTD – the highest YTD level on record and up 19% from the $228m raised in 2010 YTD. Despite an increase in M&A fees, ECM continues to lead the Core IB revenue with 42.3% market share, followed by M&A and DCM with shares of 36.9% and 20.8% respectively.
