
M&A deals in Southeast Asia slowed in 2012
DBS aquisition of Bank Danamon of Indonesia , tagged as the 'largest M&A deal at' $7.3bn, failed to push growth.
Data from Dealogic showed that SE Asia M&A totals $33.3bn in 2012 YTD, down slightly from the $35.5bn announced during the same period last year on what was the highest YTD level since 2008 with $41.5bn
Fueled by DBS Group's $7.3bn acquisition of Bank Danamon Indonesia - the largest M&A deal in the Finance sector globally in 2012 YTD.
Finance becomes the most targeted sector in the region with $9.5bn announced deals so far this year and represents 29% market share, up from the same 2011 period ($5.9bn and 17% share).
Followed by Utility & Energy with $3.9bn and 12% market share.
