Private equity is the place to be for Singapore’s female bankers
Half of private equity professionals are women.
Private equity companies in Singapore are the most gender balanced in the financial services sector, according to a report by Astbury Marsden.
Half of professionals in private equity are women. This is significantly higher than just 20% for the sector overall. The payments & clearing sector had the next highest proportion of women at 36%.
Women make up just 17% of Managing Directors and 16% of Directors, supporting the notion that a glass ceiling exists in the sector.
“While private equity is leading the way in achieving an even gender balance, more needs to be done to attract and retain women into financial services firms across the board, and to give them access to the training and mentoring that will allow them to reach the most senior positions,” said Mark O’Reilly, Managing Director for Asia Pacific,
