SEEDS Capital enters $150m partnership for deep tech startups
The initiative involves 13 new partners under the Startup SG Equity Scheme.
SEEDS Capital, the investment division of Enterprise Singapore, has recently entered into a co-investment partnership with 13 new partners that could bring more than $150m worth of investments into three deep tech sectors.
These sectors include Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering, Health and Biomedical Sciences, and Urban Solutions and Sustainability, in line with Singapore’s Research, Innovation, and Enterprise Plan.
Firms included in the agreement include Plug and Play, MassMutual Ventures and Real Tech Holdings.
SEEDS Capital's chairman and Enterprise Singapore’s deputy CEO, Ted Tan, sees this move as a way of cultivating the startup scene, given the current landscape.
“Catalysing more VC investments in this current environment where investors tend to be more cautious is significant. SEEDS Capital can now offer deep tech startups, which have innovative and scalable solutions, with the opportunity to be mentored by our new partners who bring with them extensive market connections and a wealth of sector-specific domain knowledge to increase their chances of success.”
This partnership would include assistance to the startups by way of mentorship and potential clients, as an initial investment of $500,000, with a maximum of $8m per startup under the Startup SG Equity Scheme.
