SG extends insurance coverage for COVID-19 vaccine complications
This is part of its continued support for the vaccination and booster drive.
The Life Insurance Association of Singapore (LIA Singapore) has announced that the insurance coverage of in-patient hospitalisation under Integrated Shield Plans (IP) for COVID-19 vaccination complications will be extended until 31 December 2022.
On the same basis as before, the extended coverage will apply to all IP policyholders who receive COVID-19 vaccines under the National Vaccination Programme as well as those approved by the World Health Organisation under its Emergency Use Listing Procedure and administered in Singapore under the Special Access Route. This initiative reflects the life insurance industry’s continued support of the government’s ongoing vaccination and booster immunisation programme.
The 12-month support given by all seven IP insurers was supposed to have ended on 31 December 2021.
“Life insurers remain committed to playing their part in the collective effort to bring COVID-19 under control by supporting the National Vaccination Programme. IP policyholders taking their vaccination and booster shots can rest assured that any related medical complications resulting in hospitalisation will be covered by their respective insurers,” LIA president Khor Hock Seng said.
The seven IP insurers in Singapore are AIA, AXA, Great Eastern Life, NTUC Income, Prudential Singapore, Raffles Health Insurance, and Singlife with Aviva.
