UOB boosts employees' data analytics, project management skills
Staff who have completed the foundational modules can join the new talent development programme.
United Overseas Bank (UOB) has strengthened its learning and development programme Better U. Now, employees can master data analytics and project management skills.
The next stage of the Better U programme is open to all UOB employees who have completed the foundational modules, which develop growth mindset, problem-solving skills, digital awareness, human-centred design, and data storytelling.
UOB debuted the next stage of the Better U programme at a two-day virtual event for its 26,000 global workforce on 27 October.
According to Wee Ee Cheong, UOB’s deputy chairman and CEO, Better U is the bank’s flagship development programme launched last year. To date, over 8,000 employees have already completed the foundational modules and by H1 2021, UOB expects that number to almost double to 15,000.
“Better U has been important in inspiring 96% of participants to continue developing their skills, whilst 98% have said they are committed to applying what they have learnt in their roles,” he added.
Interestingly, a research by the Institute of Banking and Finance and the Monetary Authority of Singapore said that data analytics will transform 90% of jobs in the financial sector within the next five years and project management skills will continue to be sought after in the future of work.
