UOB’s Better U Pivot programme to reskill employees for new bank roles
It also aims to address growth areas like risk and compliance, sales, and customer experience.
UOB has launched its Better U Pivot programme, aimed at helping employees transition into new roles within the bank through reskilling and mentorship.
Developed in collaboration with Institutes of Higher Learning and industry partners, the programme will equip up to 500 employees, including those from regional offices, with in-demand skills over the next two years.
Selected employees will undergo a 12-month curriculum designed to address growth areas within the bank, including risk and compliance, sales, and customer experience. Each participant will receive tailored support through the Career Conversion Programme, in partnership with the Institute of Banking and Finance and Workforce Singapore.
Participants will benefit from close mentorship from coaches and hiring managers to ensure a smooth transition into their new roles.
UOB is also working to strengthen Singapore’s AI capabilities through a partnership with the Infocomm Media Development Authority and the National University of Singapore. They launched the AIDA Centre of Excellence (CoE), which focuses on artificial intelligence (AI) skilling, on-the-job training, and job placement in finance.
This collaboration rides on UOB’s other initiatives, such as the Technology Development Programme and Technology in Finance Immersion Programme, aimed at grooming talent for the future of finance.
The AIDA CoE plans to recruit 100 university graduates over the next three years, offering positions such as data scientists, data engineers, and AI or machine learning engineers upon completion of their training. Applications will open later this quarter.
