Deloitte Singapore appoints new financial and regulatory risk leaders
It wants to support growing demand in SEA.
Deloitte Singapore adds two new senior hires to its Financial and Regulatory Risk practice lineup.
According to a press release, Michael Rey will assume managing director whilst Eden Spivakovsky will relocate to Singapore to be the director.
Rey was formerly a senior vice president in risk research with a sovereign wealth fund.
He has been doing market risk management and risk methodology design and prototyping for over 18 years.
He will work with Benny Koh, partner and financial & regulatory risk leader, to give risk advisory expertise to financial services clients.
Rey said, “Beyond regulatory compliance, modern risk management functions have to demonstrate value to the business. They have historically been a compliance function, but we aim to help Risk Managers to improve their impact.”
He also specialises in interest rate, forex, credit and derivatives risk management. He is also familiar with technicalities in risk modelling portfolio and risk transfer.
Rey graduated with a Masters’ degree in Science in Mathematics with ETH Zurich focusing on Stochastics, Mathematical Finance and Insurance Mathematics.
Meanwhile, Spivakovsky has more than 15 years of regulatory risk, legal and compliance, strategy and operations experience in the financial services sector.
Before joining Deloitte in Australia, he was in a Singaporean technology startup company and in a global asset management firm where he led a regulatory and operational risks team across Asia Pacific.
"Risk management, as a process, still relies on traditional data and reporting. We want to help clients redesign their end-to-end processes, keeping the ‘customer experience’ in mind," Spivakovsky said.
He has an MBA from AGSM, UNSW Business School and a Bachelor's’ degree in Law and Commerce from the University of Melbourne.
He was admitted to the legal practice by the Australian High Court and Supreme Court.
