Standard Chartered launches its first iPhone application
Standard Chartered Bank's first iPhone mobile banking application, Standard Chartered Breeze, will give customers greater ease of use and a higher degree of convenience.
Standard Chartered Breeze is a mobile banking application where the entire online banking platform is fully functional and operates within the iPhone application, giving customers direct and easier access to their accounts.
Developed based on extensive consumer research and with consumers' mobility needs in mind, Standard Chartered Breeze is designed with the following features:
• World’s first E-Cheques
Customers can not only view their account balances and credit card details at anytime, they can also do transactions using the world’s first electronic cheques (E-Cheques) service – a hassle-free payment method where customers can simply enter the name and mailing address of an existing registered payee that they wish to pay. The Bank will then print and send the cheque on behalf of the customers.
• Intuitive Day/Night wallpaper
The wallpaper on the application automatically detects the time of the day and changes its wallpaper accordingly to reflect daylight, evening and night scenes.
According to a Standard Chartered report, the application currently available in Singapore now has over 19,000 downloads since its beta release three weeks ago. An online version of the Breeze platform will be rolled out in the Asia Pacific region, starting with Singapore and Malaysia in July 2010, followed shortly by India and Hong Kong.
Aman Narain, Group Head of Remote Banking at Standard Chartered Bank, said, "Today, with technology as the enabler, we can raise the bar on the service, efficiency and experience as we integrate the needs of consumers in developing relevant financial products and services for them. Also, we see the relationship between mobile and online banking solutions similar to that of the iPod and iTunes, with mobile solutions increasingly addressing on-the-go needs and consumption. The online platform will serve to support mobile banking and help to organise your finances."
Standard Chartered has created a micro-site that includes a more detailed product description, demo and tips on how to use Breeze iPhone. More information is available here.
