Discover this new food hub for business executives along Marina Bay district

Foodology is a quick lunch counter by day and a cozy diner-bar by night.

Nestled amidst Marina Bay Financial District’s huge skyscrapers and busy business hubs, Foodology is an international market restaurant that caters to the area’s white-collar business executives.

With 300-seating capacity, Foodology highlights 9 concept stations each providing patrons a wide array of dining options such as Soups & Salads, Sandwiches, Pastas, Pizzas, Grills & Burgers, Asian Noodles & Sandwiches, Asian Specialties, Desserts and Beverages.

Busy business executives can get their quick fix at Grab and Go station while folks working on extended hours can afford some leisure time at its cozy dine-bar. Operated by Argentum Group, Foodology opened its door last February 18. It spans 8,000square feet and now operates Mondays thru Fridays from 10am-10pm and Saturdays from 10am – 2pm.

Singapore Business Review interviewed Mr Michel Lu, CEO, Argentum Group to know more about Foodology.

SBR: What motivated you to open this restaurant in Singapore?

Singapore undoubtedly a melting pot of cultures and 'flavours'. We've got locals who have an avid palate having been so well-exposed to all sorts of cuisine and styles and we've also got many expatriates who on one hand love their Asian food but also seek comfort in international cuisine which they are used to.

Foodology seeks to bring gourmet quality foods which the demographic have come to expect and at reasonable prices which can be enjoyed every day.
We decided on a self-serve and fuss-free concept to firstly help keep prices low but also to ensure that executives who need a quality lunch fix are able to head straight for whatever they feel like having for lunch, pick up their food and beverage at the same counter, instantly pay for it and enjoy their meal in a comfortable environment.

SBR: What can Singaporeans expect from your restaurant that they can't find anywhere else?

Foodology offers a great variety of gourmet food items to choose from. We offer so many different types of food and we ensure that it is done well: with the right ingredients and with the best equipment to prepare them.

For example, all our burger patties are made 100% from Australian Wagyu 400 Days Grain Fed Beef and all the patties are grilled in the famed Spanish Josper Grill, the hottest indoor double ventilated closed door charcoal grill found in the kitchens of some of the world’s top chefs including Gordon Ramsay.

To have such restaurant quality fare at a reasonable price in a fuss-free environment is probably unprecedented in Singapore, particularly in the densely occupied Central Business District area.

SBR: How does the interior of the restaurant complement with your menu? What do you hope to achieve with the atmosphere inside the restaurant?

In line with our concept of serving Gourmet Food at Everyday Prices, our interior compliments this dining experience with its simple and relaxed yet elegant finishes.

Most of the interior are in classic earthy tones and are complimented by furniture such as marble-top long high tables. Some of the main features are the Foodology Bar that perhaps on its own already differentiates Foodology from a regular self-serve dining concept and a feature light in the shape of our logo that hangs from the main dining area of Foodology at Marina Bay Financial Centre.

The layout of Foodology at Marina Bay Financial centre is such that patrons are led through the entire restaurant and are able to experience each food station when they walk through for the first time.

With 10 different food stations available, we hoped patrons would walk through and discover something that each of them would instantly fall in love with. Whether he be a pasta lover, a health-conscious salad fan or even a die-hard Asian cuisine diner, indeed there is something for everyone here at Foodology.

SBR: What can you tell us about this restaurant that is exclusively for SBR's editorial coverage?

On top of having built a strong following over lunch-hour, we've also noticed a strong response for after-hour drinks at Foodology. After 5pm, Foodology evolves into a cozy diner-bar space and we serve tapas-styled small bites on top of some of our regular offerings.

We've got a beautiful bar which takes centre-stage in the evenings and bar prices are extremely reasonable with full pints of draught beer (choice of Tiger, Kirin and Erdinger) starting at just $7.30nett, house pour spirits at $6.80nett and bottled beers going at $32nett for bucket of 5. I personally also love the way the fire from the pizza oven glows in the evening and you can even feel its warmth over hearty drinks around the high marble tables.
