Go inside the gorgeous new headquarters of Ingredion in Singapore

Its state-of-the-art kitchen space is not to be missed.

Ingredion group of companies, a global ingredient solutions provider which has been in Singapore since the mid-1990s, has recently expanded its Asia Pacific headquarters in the city. Located in Biopolis, the new Ingredion’s headquarters features its new Idea Labs facilities and a development kitchen with state-of-the art equipment.

The new Ingredion HQ comprises of laboratories, a pilot plant, sensory and culinary facilities, as well as an open-plan office area. The entire office space is outfitted with the signature Ingredion brand colours of green, grey and white, with highlights of other vibrant hues. The reception area is bright and minimalistic to create a striking first impression that is both professional and welcoming.

According to Jorgen Kokke, senior vice president and president of Ingredion, Asia Pacific, the most successful aspect of the headquarters’ design is the flexibility and functionality of the office layout. The design, he said, provides a range of attractive and functional environments that employees enjoy working in and makes them proud to usher customers into the office. It also supports science-based collaboration and innovation.

The new HQ has semi-private collaborative spaces for focused work activities and private calls, as well as a large centralised meeting hub. The community hub has colourful, warm and inviting vibe, and is most often used as a food and beverage venue. It is also a popular place for employees to hold informal meetings.

Aside from the flexible office design, Ingredion also feels proud about its Idea Labs innovation centre. The new innovation center is dedicated to fostering science-based collaboration and problem solving for food, beverage and industrial customers in three key areas: consumer insights, applications and applied research.

“We are extremely pleased with the design and completion of the Ingredion Idea Labs™ innovation centre and regional headquarters. We have unique needs and requirements in this facility and we have managed to build a centre which functions efficiently to maximise collaboration and innovation and we are confident that our new investment will support an exciting future for Ingredion in Asia Pacific,” said Jorgen.

According to Jorgen, coming up with an innovation center was challenging because they have to find ways to incorporate the laboratories, pilot plants, sensory and culinary facilities with the office space. In response, Jorgen said that they have collaborated and consulted with customers and partners who had similar kitchen and sensory facilities. In order to optimise space, they embarked on a meticulous study on workflow to ensure ease of movement and efficiency.

“We were also lucky to have rebranded to 'Ingredion' not too long ago and were able to incorporate fresh and inspiring elements of the brand look and feel to make the space vibrant, colourful and interesting. We had a cross-functional team on the project that involved all levels within the organisation which allowed us to engage everyone, in order to meet the needs of users from all functions,” Jorgen said.
