Korea’s Yoogane to open second outlet in Singapore
More outlets are soon to come.
Yoogane, the popular chain of dak galbi restaurant in Korea has reached Singapore on the first day of May.
The restaurant, which originated in Busan, exemplifies a concept of having your meal cooked right in front of you. It comes with a special recipe that makes it uniquely different.
Yoogane has over 130 plus outlets found in Korea, Indonesia, Shanghai and Philippines.
In an interview with co-chain owner Nicholas Heng, he traced back their interest with Yoogane. "We are a group of friends that has work together for many years and all of us love Yoogane when we visited Seoul last year. We love it so much that we start searching for a similar restaurant in Singapore. After realizing that it was impossible to find the same taste in Singapore, we decided to take action and bring in the franchise ourselves. We flew to Seoul and meet up with them and the rest they say is history."
With S$1 million as an initial investment, Heng said that the business started with pure gut feel and a great belief.
"Negative comment and language barrier were problems that we overcome in the initial stage of our business. We love the food itself and gut instinct made us believed that Singaporeans will be just as receptive as us in this tasty Dak Galbi that we have. Years of working relationship and great friendship made us believed we are to able to bring one of the favourite brand in Korea to our little island," he said.
During the interview, Nicholas revealed that there are already plans to open their second outlet at the end of this year. However, they are still unsure of perfect date to do so due to location constraint.
"As for the future we do hope to have about 7-10 outlets in Singapore and Malaysia. We are also not discounting the fact that we may bring in other popular overseas F&B brands in the future if we discover anything interesting."
