Check out Sushi Tei's "Epicurean Winter Delights"
It will be available until 19 March 2013.
According to a release, Sushi Tei has put forward its latest promotional menu: Epicurean Winter Delights, which will run for now till 19 March 2013 at all Sushi Tei outlets island-wide.
Taking the spotlight on this seasonal menu are abalone (awabi), monkfish liver (anko ankimo), and oysters (kaki).
Prized by the Japanese, the abalone is a rich source of iron, magnesium, vitamins, and heart healthy Omega-3 fatty acids. Enjoy abalone the Japanese style in the form of Awabi Sashimi ($18) where fresh abalone is lightly steamed and garnished with a squirt of lemon, or go for the Awabi Shoyu Butter ($18) option for a sumptuous buttery indulgence.
Ankimo or the liver of the monkfish; a type of anglerfish, is hailed by the Japanese as one of winter's most precious delicacies for its luscious texture which is comparable to that of foie gras.
Luxuriate in the exquisite creaminess of monkfish liver with Sushi Tei's Ankimo Gunkan Sushi ($3.80) or feast on the appetiser of Ankimo Ponzu ($6.50) – both of which are served true to Japanese culture with grated radish, green onions, and tangy citrus-based ponzu sauce.
Dedicated oyster lovers will no doubt be spoilt for choice by the extensive range of oyster dishes in this seasonal promotion. Yakitori fans will take to the Kaki Bacon Maki ($8.50) where the usual winning combination of bacon and asparagus is given an umami boost with grilled oyster.
The Bamboo Oyster Roll ($8) is a playful twist on bamboo sushi. Instead of stuffing a hollowed out piece of bamboo with sushi rice and sashimi as is conventional, this quirky version makes use of cucumber strips to create the bamboo shell, which is chockfull of pan-fried oysters and egg topped with diced tomatoes and then lightly drizzled with a sesame sauce.
For cold weather days, seek comfort in the Kaki Kimchi Nabe ($14), a piquant simmering hotpot of plump oysters, kimchi and a myriad of vegetables. Alternatively, order the Oyster & Pumpkin Kakaige Cha Soba ($10) to feast on these plump oysters tempura-style with perfectly-chilled cha soba.
End off on a sweet note with the Naruto Sweet Potato Ice-Cream ($3.40) which has been imported from Hokkaido just for this seasonal promotion. Another highlight on the Epicurean Winter Delights menu is the Shiratama Azuki Roll ($4.80).
Dreamed up by the talented chefs at the Serangoon Garden outlet, this dessert number was the winning entry at Sushi Tei’s quarterly Supreme Chef Challenge, and updates the quintessential pairing of azuki (red beans) and shiratama mochi by rolling them up in a paper-thin rice paper wrap.
