foodpanda pilots drone delivery
The trial revealed that they can complete deliveries in less than 15 minutes.
foodpanda, in collaboration with ST Engineering, has conducted trials on their first drone delivery from Marina South Pier to PACC Offshore Services Holdings (POSH) vessel, the company revealed in a press release. With this test flight, foodpanda would be able to make deliveries in less than 15 minutes, the press release added.
The new service is intended to complement their riders, where the drones will ideally be able to pick up and deliver orders at designated collection points located islandwide and one of foodpanda’s 12,000 riders will be waiting to complete the last-mile delivery.
foodpanda inked a partnership with ST Engineering in March to adapt its DroNet solution to trial the delivery of light food items over short distances of up to 3km. DroNet is an end-to-end drone network solution designed to carry out specific tasks or services autonomously in an urban environment.
