Heineken snubs SABmillers’ acquisition bid
It’s heritage over profit for the giant brewer.
Heineken Asia today revealed that it has been approached by rival SABMiller plc regarding a potential acquisition of Heineken.
In a release on the SGX, Heineken noted that it has consulted with its majority shareholder and concluded that SABMiller's proposal is non-actionable.
“The Heineken family has informed SABMiller, HEINEKEN and Heineken Holding N.V. of its intention to preserve the heritage and identity of HEINEKEN as an independent company. The Heineken family and Heineken N.V.'s management are confident that the Company will continue to deliver growth and shareholder value,” noted Heineken.
