Several shops at Chinatown Food Street to shut down in May

To make way for renovations.

In a release, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has announced that the Chinatown Food Street (CFS), located on Smith Street, will be closed from 1 May 2013 to make way for renovations.

As a result of this closure, shophouse units 9 – 29 and 37 – 41 will be affected. All other units will remain operational. Smith Street will continue to be open to traffic until further notice.

The revitalisation of CFS is part of STB and Chinatown Business Association’s efforts to ensure that the precinct remains attractive and relevant in today’s context. The renovation and subsequent operation of CFS will be undertaken by Select Group Ltd.  Visitors can look forward to a newly refurbished CFS in Q4 2013.
