ThaiBev’s long-term growth unshaken by shrine bombing
It has proven its resilience in similar crises.
The fact that the beverage company’s sales derive from all provinces—not just those popular with tourists—secures its long-term development despite an expected dwindle in tourist volume in the aftermath of the local bombings.
Analysts from OCBC said that the beer division of ThaiBev continued to generate improved profits despite the economic slowdown.
“Thus while the group's share price has fallen on recent events coupled with the broader stock market rout, we think ThaiBev’s long-term growth remains intact with its generally defensive alcoholic portfolio,” a report from OCBC said.
OCBC also said ThaiBev had previously shown a resilience in earnings despite lower tourist levels amid political unrest in 2014.
