F&B posts lower sales growth in August of 40.2% YoY
In July, sales grew by 41.9%.
Food and beverage (F&B) sales grew at a slower pace in August, jumping 40.2% YoY from a 41.9% YoY increase in July. Sales value clocked in at $928m.
On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, F&B sales fell 0.2% from July.
Of the total sales value, 25.7% were from online sales.
According to the Department of Statistics Singapore (Singstat), the higher growth in F&B sales was mainly due to the low base in August 2021, when dine-in restrictions were still in place, but also due to all industries posting a year-on-year increase in sales.
Amongst industries, Food Caterers recorded the largest increase, soaring 128.3% YoY, followed by Restaurants which saw a 67.5% jump in sales.
Sales of Cafes, Food Courts & Other Eating Places and Fast Food Outlets also rose in August by 23.1% and 13.5%, respectively.
