F&B sales down 6.7% in August
This is a 6% decline from the value recorded in July.
According to the Department of Statistics Singapore, food and beverage (F&B) sales saw a 6.7% year-on-year decrease in August 2021.
This can be attributed to stricter dine-in regulations. This is also a 6% decline when compared to the previous month.
Overall, the total sales value of F&B was estimated at $628m. Online F&B sales made up about 38.8%.
Three of the four industries covered by the study experienced a positive performance due to the demand for food deliveries. These were fast food outlets, cafes, food courts and other eating places, and food caterers. These recorded a YoY growth of 8.7%, 3.1%, and 0.1% respectively.
Meanwhile, restaurants were the only sector to experience a decline at 24.5%. This, again, is due to the stricter dine-in measures when compared to last year.
