F&B sales jump 29.7% YoY in September
The increase was due to the low base in the same month last year.
Food and beverage (F&B) sales grew at a slower pace in September, jumping 29.7% YoY from a 40.1% YoY increase in August. Sales value clocked in at $915m.
Of the total sales value, 24.4% was from online sales.
According to the Department of Statistics Singapore (Singstat), the higher growth in F&B sales was mainly due to the low base in September 2021, when dine-in restrictions were still in place, but also due to all industries posting a year-on-year increase in sales.
Amongst industries, Food Caterers recorded the largest increase, soaring 135.2% YoY, followed by Restaurants which saw a 36.9% jump in sales.
Sales of Cafes, Food Courts & Other Eating Places and Fast Food Outlets also rose in September by 16.9% and 19.8%, respectively.
