F&B sales jump 59.1% YoY in June
The increase was due to the low base in the same month last year.
Food and beverage (F&B) sales grew at a faster pace in June, jumping 59.1% YoY from a 40.1% YoY increase in May. Sales value clocked in at $885m.
Of the total sales value, 25.7% were from online sales.
According to the Department of Statistics Singapore (Singstat), the higher growth in F&B sales was mainly due to the low base in June 2021, when dine-in restrictions were still in place, but also due to all industries posting a year-on-year increase in sales.
Amongst industries, Restaurants recorded the largest increase, soaring 143.7% YoY, followed by Food Caterers which saw a 109.7% jump in sales.
Sales of Cafes, Food Courts & Other Eating Places and Fast Food Outlets also rose in June by 30.1% and 11.3%, respectively.
On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, however, F&B sales dipped 0.5% MoM mainly due to restaurant turnover dropping by 5.9% MoM.
