F&B sales slump to 7.3% for month of June

This follows May’s 46.4% growth in sales.

In a report published by the Department of Statistics Singapore, food and beverage sales reached an increase of 7.3% year-on-year (YoY) in the month of June, a drop from May’s 46.4%.

This brings the total value to $529m, with higher demand for food deliveries cited as the main reason for this. Online food deliveries encountered an uptick of 47.7%, higher than May’s 38.7%.

Several sectors experienced growth as well, with fast food outlets attaining a 23% YoY, and cafes and food courts experiencing a similar expansion at 23.1%.

Food caterers underwent the largest decrease as sales crashed by 44.5%. The report points to lower demand for catered meals as the culprit.

The restaurant sector, meanwhile, experienced a similar reduction of 7.3%, which can be attributed to the heightened dine-in restrictions.
