
Food & beverage M&A deals increase twenty-fold to US$20.8b
Thanks to the deals by APB, Heineken, and F&N.
According to Thomson Reuters, the recent bids for Asia Pacific Breweries by Heineken and the announced acquisitions of Fraser & Neave by Thai billionaire Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi, through Thai Beverage PCL and TCC Assets Ltd., bolstered M&A activity in the Food & Beverage sector significantly to US$20.8 billion, a twenty-fold increase from the first nine months in 2011.

Food & Beverage, which took up 96.8% of Consumer Staples M&A deals (US$21.5 billion), accounted for 40.5% of any Singaporean involvement acquisitions this year. Financials sector accounted for 19.3% of the market activity with US$9.9 billion, up 150.9% from the same period last year.
