Food & beverage sales up 5.4% in April
The Department of Statistics said all major segments reported higher turnover in April 2011 compared to the same period in 2010.
Turnover of fast food outlets, food caterers and other eating places went up between 5.9% and 11.5% while receipts of restaurants increased 1.1%.
In terms of month-on-month change, receipts of restaurants and fast food outlets increased 2.2% and 1.9% respectively in April 2011 compared to the previous month after seasonal adjustment.
Meanwhile turnover of food caterers and other eating places (such as cafes and canteens) decreased 1.0% and 0.8% respectively in April 2011 over March 2011.
