Services sector’s woes intensify as festive season rolls in
Manpower needs will surge in Q4.
The season to be jolly is fast approaching for many, but seasonal celebrations will bring no respite for troubled hoteliers and restaurateurs who are already grappling with the tight labor market.
Staffing woes will be exacerbated as businesses begin to gear up for the traditional influx of merrymakers in the last quarter of the year, revealed PrimeStaff’s Quarterly Employment Outlook.
According to the report, there will be a spike in demand for workers in the hospitality, retail, and food and beverage sectors.
“Staffing in the service industry continues to be a challenge and this will be exacerbated by the surge in manpower needs owing to seasonal hiring for the festive period. Employers in this industry are resigned to the fact that high employee turnover is inevitable and it is an ongoing challenge they just have to live with,” said PrimeStaff Managing Director Ronald Lee.
