
Turnover of F&B services shots up 3.5% in July 2016
Fast food outlets had the biggest increase.
Sales of food and beverage services in Singapore rose 3.5% YoY and 3.6% MoM in July 2016 compared to the previous corresponding periods.
The city-state’s Department of Statistics revealed that, after seasonal adjustment, turnover of most sectors went up between 5.4% and 11.5% in July 2016 over June 2016. Fast food outlets nabbed the largest increase at 11.5%. In contrast, sales of other eating places such as cafes declined 1.4% over the same period.
On a yearly basis, sales of fast food outlets and other eating places increased 16.3% and 4.8% respectively in July 2016 compared to July 2015. On the other hand, revenue of food caterers and restaurants dipped 0.5% and 0.2% respectively during this period.
The total sales value of food and beverage services in July 2016 was estimated at $698 million, higher than the $675 million in July 2015, the statistics agency said.
