Raffles Med breaks ground for $310m RafflesHospital extension building
It will nearly double the size of existing hospital facilities.
Raffles Medical Group yesterday held the groundbreaking ceremony for its $310m RafflesHospital extension building. The new tower has 20 storeys and 2 basements.
Together with the existing hospital building, the combined development will yield a gross floor area of about 530,000 square feet, almost double the size of its existing hospital facilities.
The group also revealed yesterday that it has entered into an agreement with the Ministry of Health to collaborate on a 2-year project whereby RafflesHospital’s Emergency Department will receive patients transported to it by Singapore Civil Defence Force emergency ambulances during office hours.
RafflesHospital will provide emergency care for these patients at its ED, and follow up inpatient care and/or outpatient care at its specialist clinics, as medically indicated, in relation to the patient’s presenting diagnosis at the ED.
Patients treated in RafflesHospital under this collaboration will be eligible for Government subsidy. The project is expected to be implemented around the middle of 2015.
