Red Crowns Senior Living faces fines for Employment Act violations
The MOM found "illegal employment practices" in the firm's previous operating model.
The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has issued composition fines against Red Crowns Senior Living and its directors after the care provider violated the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act.
On its official Facebook page, the MOM said its investigations found "illegal employment practices in the company’s previous operating model."
"RCSL circumvented our foreign worker levy requirements. It also put legal responsibilities on their elderly clients as the employers of migrant domestic workers, when the clients did not have control over the work and welfare of these domestic workers," the ministry said.
The ministry, however, underscored that the assisted living firm has since corrected its operating model.
"We have worked closely with Red Crowns Senior Living to correct its operating model and to ensure continuity of care for its existing clients under the new model," the MOM said,
"Nonetheless, they remained liable for the offences committed under its previous illegal operating model," the MOM said.
Red Crowns Senior Living was part of the Sandbox for Shared Stay-in Senior Care Services, piloted by the Ministry of Health and the Agency for Integrated Care and backed by the MOM.
