Singapore to build up its vaccine manufacturing capacity to fight COVID-19 pandemic: PM Lee
Discovering, producing, and distributing a safe and effective vaccine is deemed vital to getting life back to normal.
Singapore is building up its vaccine manufacturing capacity to offer fill and finish contract manufacturing services to vaccine developers, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong stated during the Global Vaccine Summit 2020.
This move aims to help companies ramp up their production faster and assure them high standards of safety and quality in the manufacturing process, according to the Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Lee also said, “We (Singapore) are investing heavily in research and development on diagnostics, vaccines and therapeutics. Our researchers have developed a range of serological and nucleic acid-based diagnostic tests, which have been deployed to over 20 countries. They (researchers) are also developing therapeutic monoclonal antibodies as well as a vaccine, and have started clinical trials of various therapeutics.”
